The Department started its journey from 2022 onwards on completion of the new laboratory hosted beside the new Annex building, constructed with funds received from MPLAD. We owe our sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Prof. Sougata Roy for providing grant of 14 lacs through the MPLAD scheme for procuring all the Instruments for PG Physics laboratory.

The PG Board of Studies of Physics, headed by HOD, Dept of Physics, WBSU regularly provides guidance to the faculty for running the course successfully.The department has very efficient faculty who are actively engaged in various research programs. They have been  providing  guidance to students of other institutes for their Post graduate dissertation topics. Also the faculty guiding PhD scholars registered under WBSU. Few of the teachers are publishing regularly in International journals of repute.
