Set up in 1956 as part of the Refugee Rehabilitation Programme of the Government, Brahmananda Keshab Chandra College has come a long way since its humble beginnings at Sagar Dutta School. Housed in a beautiful verdant campus with a huge playground and close to the Bonhooghly Lake, the College imparts a holistic education to young minds. With full time, permanent faculty in all departments and cordial co-operative non teaching staff, great care is taken to educate and make young minds think. Under the able guidance of the Principal, the College aims to take giant steps in the field of education nurturing young minds. With postgraduate courses in three departments, the College has shown how it moves ahead in keeping with the changing times. The Eco Club and the Literary Society work to create an environment friendly environ and nurture creativity in young minds. The College has been working to upgrade itself regularly in keeping with the changing times. New Add On Courses, designed keeping the students’ needs and the job market in mind, have been introduced. Several more are on the anvil. Several faculty members are involved in research and have major publications to their credit. Students are encouraged to be involved in curricular work, not just in direct classroom teaching but also present papers at seminars and workshops, held in the College and in other Colleges and Institutions. Students are encouraged to take active part in co-curricular and extra curricular activities as we strongly believed in a full all round development of the students.
