Department Of PhilosophyDepartment Of PhilosophyAbout The Department
The Department of Philosophy tries to provide its students with a wide variety of interesting courses that address moral issues to attain social good and moral values. Philosophy being the most practical course of study, the department tries to impart skills that will be useful not only in any career but also in personal life. The study of Philosophy will enable one to think carefully, critically and with clarity, take a logical approach to address challenging questions and examine hard issues, reason well and evaluate the reasoning of others and discuss sensibly. VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT The Philosophy Department of BKC College was established with the vision of imparting quality as well as spiritual education to the students of BKC College and its neighbouring area to help students develop intellectual abilities important for life as a whole, beyond the knowledge and skills required for any particular profession, thus enhancing the analytical, critical and interpretative capacities applicable to any subject matter and in any human context. Our motto is to enrich the knowledge of the students of Philosophy with special emphasis on spiritual, moral, and ethical values and to create a calm, peaceful, and noble atmosphere amongst the students so that they can enable themselves to be good moral citizens in the future. Philosophy is a natural deep study. Due to the technological revolution ‘Man’ in Nature and Spirit looses his inhabits. The neutrality of man is diminishing day by day. To keep intact and safeguard man’s neutrality Philosophy is a must. At present times our vision should rounded with philosophizing about Philosophy. In this path, we should not forget our beloved and respected philosophers and should remember H. W. Longfellow’s well-known verse- “Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time” Education is not merely a thing to be acquired; it is a thing to be lived in our daily life. As Lord Bryce once said, “The end of study is not to possess knowledge as a man possesses the coins in his purse, but to make knowledge a part of ourselves, that is to turn knowledge into thought as the food we eat is turned into the life-giving and nerve nourishing blood.” MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT we must plan the following strategies: (i) To allow the students to be good and moral social men as well as change their mind patterns to innovative thinking through departmental activities by making heart-by-heart relations. (ii) To make them adaptable in society, we activate them to cope with environmental problems. (iii) Encouragement students to cultivate a feeling & loving heart to touch by mass illiteracy, abject poverty, and uncleanness and feel compassion for the suffering men and women. (iv) To make them fit to fight for justice everywhere, to make them believe in non-violence everywhere, and as a policy to be kind and courteous to everybody. (v) To communicate knowledge from one generation to another through the students concerned. |
